EMPD arrest two in Primrose

Two men were arrested in Primrose in two separate incidents of reckless and negligent driving.

While patrolling in Primrose recently, officers from the EMPD arrested two men, aged 41 and 26 respectively, for reckless and negligent driving.

The first suspect was arrested at the corner of Primula Road and Marguerite Avenue.

The arrest was made after the accused, who was allegedly driving a truck, was involved in an accident with a sedan.

“When EMPD officers arrived on the scene, the suspect appeared intoxicated with red eyes and struggled to stand and talk,” said Sgt Styles Maome, the communications officer of the Primrose police.

He was arrested.

The second suspect was arrested after a collision at the corner of Shamrock and Main Reef roads.

“The man was found driving a sedan and smelled of alcohol.

“EMPD officers preformed a breathalyser which revealed that he was indeed over the limit,” said Maome.

Both men were detained at the Primrose Police Station.

They have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where the cases were temporarily struck off the roll to await blood test results.
