An 80-year-old woman was recently beaten and raped in the Phooko section of Katlehong North.
It’s alleged that a 24-year-old man beat the victim with a stick before raping her, when she was using an outside toilet in the early hours of the morning.
“The victim had to be taken to hospital for medical treatment after the incident,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.
A case of rape was opened at the Katlehong North Police Station and officers began searching for the suspect.
The man was later arrested and will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
