Police address trio and contact crimes

High visibility was key to a recent successful operation by the Elsburg SAPS.

The Elsburg SAPS recently held a high density operation from 6pm to 2am, addressing trio and contact crimes.

The members conducted patrols for high visibility, stop-and-searches and raided illegal shebeens in their policing precinct (Tedstoneville, Elsburg, Rondebult, Elspark and Buhle Park).

One woman, aged 57, was arrested for dealing in liquor without a valid licence, in Mfundo Street in Rondebult after she failed to produce her liquor licence.

Two men were nabbed in Wadeville and Tedstoneville respectively, for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“During this operation, no serious crimes were reported and it’s believed the operation had a positive impact on the area,” said Const Daphney Phooko, the communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.
