Municipal offices to close for Christmas holidays

Take note of these closure dates.

The metro wishes to inform its ratepayers of the closure of council offices between Christmas and New Year.

All administrative offices, libraries, selected rates halls and pay-points will be closed from 1pm on Friday, December 23 and will re-open on Tuesday, January 3 next year.

However, emergency and essential services such as refuse collection, electricity and water services will not be affected by the recess.

“Time off during the Christmas holidays is the best opportunity to afford our employees time to spend with their families especially those who wish to travel to their respective home towns during this season,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.

“Residents are also reminded to pay their municipal accounts on time and utilise facilities such as the www.e-siyakhokha.co.za online platform.”

Residents are advised to use the following numbers in cases of emergencies:

  • Life Threatening Emergency Line: 011 458- 0911 or 10177 or 112 from a cellphone.
  • Municipal Services Call Centre: 0860 543 000

The municipality wishes all its residents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
