Prim Villa’s dream becomes reality

Prim Villa recently opened the doors to their third mid-care facility Prim Haven.

Excitement filled the air at Prim Villa, which falls under the Methodist Homes, on Wednesday, as the home prepared to start an exciting new chapter.

Prim Villa can be found in Primrose Hill and specialises in the care of people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

The festive activity marked the official opening of the home’s mid-care facility Prim Haven.

Meaning that the home now boasts not two, but three mid-care units that allow residents with early stage Alzheimer’s to live in a free and home-like environment.

Prim Cottage and Prim Terrace, the first mid-care units, have proven that living as a family is extremely beneficial to the well-being of the residents, and it is hoped the newest addition will be just as beneficial.

The road to Prim Haven began in March, when the renovations to the recently acquired home behind Prim Villa, in Begonia Road, started.

The seven-bedroom house was completed in October, through the dedicated work of Prim Villa building manger Gavin Hurley and his expert team.

The unit can house 14 patients and is complete with a lounge, dining room and kitchen.

Residents will be able to enjoy all the facilities Prim Villa has to offer, including the pool, sensory room and remembrance garden, all while being cared for by a dedicated team of caregivers.

The Prim Villa team pride themselves on being experts in caring for those with Alzheimer’s or related dementia.

The qualified nursing staff and caregivers in the facility are specially trained and understand the residents as they transverse the stages of Alzheimer’s or related dementia.

The staff members understand that the residents can feel hopeless at times, and are on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to give them the love and attention they need and deserve, making life as comfortable as possible.

“We are so excited this dream has become a reality and look forward to the future,” said Prim Villa manager Sharon Flint.
