Woman beaten with beer bottle

The Primrose police arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted a woman with a beer bottle.

A woman from the Marathon informal settlement recently opened a case of assault with the Primrose police after she was viciously beaten with a beer bottle.

She told the police while opening the case that she was attacked by her 35-year-old ex-boyfriend.

“The victim claims she was at her shack when the accused arrived and demanded she come to his shack with him.

“She refused and claimed he became angry and attacked her with a nearby beer bottle,” said Sgt Styles Maome, the communications officer for the Primrose police.

The woman was taken to hospital after the attack and suffered serious injuries to her upper body.

Officers were able to track down the suspect and he was arrested.

He was detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
