Inclement weather halts match

The Germiston City Cricket Club’s weekend match was called off due to bad weather. This was the second weather-affected match in recent weeks.

The Germiston City Cricket Club faced their arch rivals, the Bedfordview Cricket Club, in what was hoped to be a humdinger of a home match on Saturday.

Sadly this wasn’t to be as the Fourth League match of the Easterns Cricket League, played at the Germiston City Sports Grounds, was called off early into the home side’s batting campaign, making this the second of the team’s matches to be called off due to bad weather in recent weeks.

Before the rain came though, Germiston fielded and bowled the visitors out for 163 in their 35 overs.

The side’s batsmen then headed to the pitch but were soon called off.

The side will next face the Actonville Spurs Cricket Club in a home match starting at 1.15pm on Saturday afternoon.

The team hopes this match will be played to its conclusion as they are in need of points to progress from the Fourth League.
