The Primrose police, with the help of the community, recently arrested a 26-year-old man for theft out of a motor vehicle.
The arrest was made after community members nabbed the accused, after he had allegedly smashed a woman’s car window and stolen her handbag.
The woman’s car was stopped at the corner Shamrock and Pretoria roads when the incident happened.
Community members who witnessed the incident chased the suspect and grabbed him as he tried to flee the scene.
Police were called to the scene and the man was arrested.
“The station commander of the Primrose Police Station, Col Albertina Vesi, thanked the community members for their assistance in the arrest, and thanked them for not taking the law into their own hands,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The accused will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
