Ahead of the pack

Local athlete makes podium at Central Gauteng Athletics’ Track and Field Championships.

Clarissa le Roux took her competitors by surprise when she tossed her discus into first position, at the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) Track and Field Championships, on November 5.

The championships were held at Germiston Stadium.

Throwing above her age, this 12-year-old field star from Homestead took the championship in the u-13 discus event, outmanoeuvring her opponents with a throw of 35m.

She also took silver in the u-12 shot put, with a distance of 10.75m.

Due to her impressive results she has qualified to compete at the Inter-Provincial Sub-Youth Athletics Championships, in Durban, on November 19.
