Tebbutt’s a grade above the rest

Junior members of the Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy had a tough weekend as they graded for their next belts.

It was a long, exhausting and exciting day for the junior members of Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy, in Lambton, on Saturday.

The academy was full to the brim as supporters and members eagerly awaited the day’s events.

Thirty-five junior members, white to purple belt, graded in the hope of receiving their next belts.

Stamina played a big role in the day’s grading; with members’ being tested twice during the course of the grading, by senior members of the academy.

Members graded in all disciplines, which included kata, weapons, full-contact fighting, tile breaking and self-defence, and all were successful.

Kancho Alex Tebbutt was extremely proud of the juniors, and encouraged them throughout the day to have fun and enjoy the experience.

Before the day ended, parents and the young members were treated to a rock ’n roll-inspired demonstration.

Participating members demonstrated weapons, tile breaking and basic self-defence.

The day was a huge success.
