When Wendy van Schalkwyk entered Cash Crusaders, in Shamrock Road, on Wednesday, September 7, with her four daughters, she had no idea of the events that would unfold. “While my daughters and I were looking through the DVDs a woman approached me. She asked me if I had a problem with her, to which I said no. She became increasingly violent, so I told her clearly that if she hit me I would open a case of assault against her. She asked me why I thought she would hit me,” van Schalkwyk explained to the GCN. No sooner had she said this than she allegedly attacked van Schalkwyk, who was holding her five-year-old daughter in her arms at the time.

Hercules police are looking for three men who recently hijacked a couple and forced them to have sex while they watched, in Pretoria Central. Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimanga said the hijackers pounced on the couple on the corner of Lillian Ngoyi and Visagie streets.

The metro is implementing a 10 per cent punitive rate to step up measures to save water. The water and sanitation department announced that the metro had achieved only a 0.8 per cent saving rate, compared to the required 15 per cent water saving since the implementation of water restrictions. Residents using more than 25 kilolitres (kl) of water will be charged a 10 per cent punitive rate.

ER24 paramedics transported two people, one critically injured, after four vehicles collided at the intersection of Heidelberg and Van Dyk roads, in Leondale, last Tuesday morning. When paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg South branch arrived on the scene, they found the four vehicles in the middle of the busy intersection. A wrecked light motor vehicle was found lying partially beneath a bakkie.

Talented dancers from Diana Moore Dance World recently took part in the Supreme Dancer of the Year competition. The annual competition, hosted by the studio, was held at Carnival City. Dancers from across the country participated in the prestigious event and celebrated the 31st year of the competition. Dancers competed in a variety of disciplines and fantastic prizes, trophies and medals were awarded to the winners.
