Dance studio hosts prestigious competition

Dancers from across the country will be competing in the Supreme Dancer of the Year competition.

It’s that time of the year again when dancers unpack their sequins and tackle the Supreme Dancer of the Year competition.

Hosted by Diana Moore Dance World (located in Lambton) the competition has been running for over 30 years and attracts top dancers from across the country.

This year’s event will take place on September 10 and 11 at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena.

The Saturday’s dancing kicks off at 8am and will see dancers competing in freestyle (solo, slowdance, showdance, couples, small groups and formation teams), rock ’n roll and the Freestyle Champion of Champions section.

On the Sunday, in the competition which starts at 8.30am, dancers will compete in hip hop (solo, duos, small groups and formation teams), the Hip Hop Champion of Champions section, ballroom and Latin American (Medal, Rising Star, Singles and Championship sections).

With an estimated 1 000 entries the competition is one of the most prestigious dance championships to be held annually in South Africa.

Spectators can look forward to two days of great action and Germiston residents are urged to come and show their support for local dancers.
