Eight injured in two collisions on the highway

While paramedics were assisting patients involved in a collision, another collision occurred.

Eight people were injured this morning (July 26) after two collisions on the M2 East near the N3 split in Germiston.

ER24 paramedics responded to the scene and arrived at 7.20am.

“Upon arrival, paramedics found that a light motor vehicle had rear-ended a taxi and both were in the middle of the road,” said Russel Meiring, spokesman for ER24.

“On assessment, paramedics found that five people had been injured in the collision.

“Fortunately, the injuries sustained were only minor.”

While paramedics were treating the patients, a secondary collision occurred involving three light motor vehicles.

“On assessment, paramedics found that all three drivers had sustained minor injuries.

“Paramedics treated all the patients and thereafter transported them to nearby hospitals for further treatment,” Meiring said.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
