Community heeds Epworth’s call for help

The Epworth Children’s Village was overwhelmed with the support they received from the community and local companies on Mandela Day.

Last Monday saw people across the world remember Nelson Mandela by giving up 67 minutes of their day to help others.

Many local companies and residents decided to dedicate their time to the Epworth Children’s Village in Lambton.

The home was open to the public from 9am to 3pm.

Roberta Ingrato, the public relations manager of Epworth, told the GCN that the support the home had received from the community and local businesses was overwhelming.

Visitors on the day included members of the Germiston North EMPD who washed windows, Lambton’s McDonald’s who prepared lunch for the home’s children and staff, Hamleys who entertained the children and handed out party packs, members of the Witwatersrand Rifles Regiment who tidied the home’s gardens and On The Dot, whose team played soccer with the children.

Donations were also received from East Rand Listing, Debonairs Pizza Lambton, Green Stone Shopping Centre, Europcar, On The Dot, Wadeville Office National, Rexel Office Products and many more.

The home was grateful for all the donations received.
