Children delight in visit from cops

It was a Mandela Day to remember at Ithembelihle Lsen School.

Laughter, fun, music and hard work were the order of the day at Ithembelihle Lsen School on Mandela Day, last Monday.

The Primrose East-based school was visited by members of the Rapid Rail Gauteng South SAPS and the Primrose SAPS.

The children were delighted to spend time with some of the cops, dancing and enjoying each other’s company, while other members cooked meals for the children and staff and washed the school’s windows.

The event was sponsored by Gift of the Givers and this allowed the approximately 40 police members to spend their 67 minutes (which turned into an entire day) giving back to the children of the community.

The members cooked both breakfast and lunch for the children and thoroughly enjoyed this activity.

They also handed out gift bags to each child sponsored by Gift of the Givers.

Capt Nakedi Rapholo, the operational coordinator for the Rapid Rail Gauteng SAPS said, “We are having a wonderful day with the children.”

Principal of Ithembelihle, Leonor Ngozi told the GCN she was delighted by the visit of the police members.

“We are very happy this Mandela Day.

“Every little bit helps us,” she said.

“Gift of the Givers will also be delivering nappies to us and Makro will be bringing us dry groceries so we are having a very good Mandela Day.”
