Fun festival for the whole family

It’s that time of the year again when the community will gather for the Ahgie-festival at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston.

After the huge success of the Ahgie-festival last year and the great support from the community, Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston is set to host the festival again.

The festival, which will cater for all ages, is set to take place this Saturday (July 30), from 8am to 4pm, on the school’s sports fields.

The school is located on Webber Road, in Lambton.

Activities will accommodate children from nursery school age up to senior citizens.

Dinky Dolly Nursery School and Heavenly Flowers Private School will keep the youngsters occupied with a programme of events, which will include a Miss and Mr Heavenly Flowers (any toddler can take part in three age categories), jumping castle fun and much more.

Primary and high school pupils can take part in a fitness competition, fun activities and a soccer competition (heats during the week with the final on Saturday).

There will be something for everyone with a flea market with stalls (jewellery, plants, ornaments, frames and so on), different food stalls (curry and rice, boerewors rolls, rib burgers, pancakes, pizza, jaffles, cupcakes, biltong, waffles on a stick, sweets and cold drinks), vintage motor cars, motorcycles, a tea garden, a dog show by Paws, a dog show by the EMPD K9 Unit, a show by a Volkspele group, Renate School of Dancing show, demonstration by Tebbutt’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy and an open stage where local people will perform, for example Nadia Nolan and students of Fame School of Singing and revue soloists.

The very popular House of Horrors (spookhuis) will also be an attraction, as well as the tombola table and other games, for example paintball, crossbow shooting, a 5D cinema, funky limos and a colour fest at 2pm.

Senior citizens can relax in the tea garden with a free cup of coffee or tea and something sweet to eat.

The local CPF and SAPS will also be present for people to join or get more information.

The community is invited to come and join in the fun of the day and get to know the people in their neighborhood.

A minimal entrance fee will be charged as well as a small parking fee if you want to park your car on the premises.
