A 33-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police after he was accused of sexually assaulting his three-year-old niece.
The incident was reported to police by the child’s mother.
“The complainant alleged that while bathing her child at their home in the Makause informal settlement she noticed that her daughter’s private parts were uncomfortable and sore.
“Confused, she inspected her and noticed a white substance which she believed to be semen, and that the child’s private parts were swollen,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
Outraged, the mother asked the child who had touched her.
“The mother told officers that her daughter took her to a nearby shack and pointed at her uncle and claimed he had committed the crime,” said Maome.
The accused was arrested and will be held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in court.
