Members of the EMPD and Primrose police recently held a stop-and-search operation in Primrose.
During the operation five men, aged between 22 and 41 years old, were arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
“The operation, which saw EMPD and SAPS members conducting vehicle searches at several points, was aimed at reducing the number of drunk drivers, hijackings and motor vehicle thefts in the area,” said communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.
Station commander for the Primrose police Lieut-Col Albertina Vesi thanked the EMPD for their assistance.
The suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
