Get ready for a rocking good time

Karen Zoid and Francois van Coke will be taking to the stage at Carnival City on July 8.

Buoyed by overwhelming demand from fans, two legendary South African artists, Francois van Coke and Karen Zoid, are coming together for a full-length, hot-blooded rock ’n roll show.

The pair will perform in Carnival City’s Big Top Arena, on July 8.

The performers, established and successful artists in their own right, released one of the most beautiful ballads of 2015, “Toe vind ek jou”.

The song instantly captured the hearts of South Africans and became the first Afrikaans release in South Africa’s history to hit the number one spot on commercial radio charts.

The music video has also enjoyed tremendous success, reaching almost one million views on YouTube.

Now, local fans can experience the song live, in all its glory, along with a diverse collection of van Coke and Zoid’s latest hits.

“We are thrilled to confirm that two of South Africa’s foremost artists will perform together for their local fans right here at Carnival City,” said Matthew Cook, the events and entertainment manager at Carnival City.

“We are expecting a sellout show and urge fans to book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

“It promises to be a thumping spectacular.”

Throughout a career spanning more than 10 years, Zoid has managed that unusual and tricky feat of balancing popular appeal with critical praise; of securing an audience of both Afrikaans and English speakers, and of retaining her individuality.

Her unmistakable voice, razor sharp lyrics and passionate performances make her a one of a kind performer.

Van Coke rose to fame as the iconic front man of legendary South African rock bands Fokofpolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel.

He launched his solo career in February 2015 with the release of his first single, “Moontlik nooit” from his website.

His solo album celebrated a new chapter in van Coke’s personal life and musical career.

It is a rock-based album, imbued with folk, country, alternative, industrial and even pop influences.

Every song on the album is individually unique, but there runs a golden thread through the album that is exceptionally Francois van Coke.

The show at Carnival City kicks off at 8pm.
