Scarlett lets her talent shine

Scarlett Schutte (8) is making a name for herself in the dance world.

For eight-year-old Scarlett Schutte dancing is becoming a way of life.

The youngster, who trains at Diana Moore Dance World, in Lambton, competed in the SABOD Performing Arts National Challenge, last weekend, at the Linder Auditorium.

The competition took place over three days and Scarlett participated in a number of sections in the u-11 category, beating dancers older than herself.

She is trained in contemporary, modern, ballet and jazz by Amanda Leigh Reynolds and she also does freestyle and slowdance with trainer Ashleigh Moore.

The talented dancer received the following results:

  • First place in the u-11 Championship Female Jazz Solo section.
  • First place in the u-11 Championship Modern Solo section.
  • Second place in the u-11 Championship Female Showdance section.
  • Third place in the u-11 WTC (World Trial Circuit) Female Ballet Solo section. WTC is a specific category where dancers accumulate points which enable then to compete internationally.

Recently, Scarlett also achieved a joint first place in the Mini Solo Contemporary and Modern sections of the Dance World Cup, which was held in Centurion, beating girls of up to 10 years old.

At the same competition she was awarded a second place in the Mini Solo Jazz and Showdance sections.
