During a Primrose police operation in the Delport informal settlement, a 39-year-old man was arrested for selling liquor without a licence and the possession of two unlicensed firearms.
“Police were patrolling in the informal settlement when they noticed a place where people were drinking alcohol.
“The officers were able to trace the building where the alcohol was being bought from,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
They entered the building and identified themselves and asked the owner for a liquor licence, which he could not produce.
During a search of the premises officers found two firearms, which the suspect was unable to produce a licence for.
He was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.
He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for a bail application.
