A Makause informal settlement resident recently opened a case against his 22-year-old neighbour.
This comes after he was allegedly robbed and assaulted by the suspect and another man, unknown to him.
“The complainant explained to officers that he fell asleep with the door open, and when he woke up, he found the men inside his shack,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
“When the men saw he was awake they allegedly began to assault him and demanded money.”
The men made off with R65 and a cellphone valued at R8 000.
Police arrested the accused days after the crime and are still searching for the second man.
The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
