A 35-year-old man recently handed himself over to the police after allegedly killing his girlfriend.
The deceased was found stabbed to death in her shack.
“The man had burns over 80 per cent of his body when he handed himself over to police,” said Sgt Styles Maome, on behalf of the Germiston cluster station.
The man explained that after the incident he had attempted to commit suicide by burning himself with a flammable substance.
“During interrogation the suspect said that he had stabbed the deceased because she was cheating on him,” said Maome.
The man was taken to a local hospital, under police guard, and he will appear in court once his condition has improved.
