Parks to be turned into cemeteries to make room for the dead — just an April Fool’s Day prank

GCN has some April Fool's Day fun.

The GCN is happy to report that the story “Parks to be turned into cemeteries to make room for the dead” was just our way of having some April Fool’s Day fun.

It is not true and our parks and green spaces are safe for now.

Thanks to all who commented and played along with the prank.

Some of the comments we received on Facebook were:

Karen Allan-Grainger: May not be a bad thing, dead people don’t litter, rob, hijack, murder etc. Parks have been left to ruin and become criminal havens over the years, very very few kids are allowed out alone, let alone to play in a municipal park in the suburbs, they are used as illegal drug dealing, alcohol selling and prostitution areas – so no great loss.

Carole Ann Rheinhard: Mine shafts are empty?? And the sea has lots of space and you can be food for the sharks at least be useful in the end….xx

Bianca Jansen van Rensburg: If this is true I am totally shocked!!! But then again I know it is the 1st of April so will have to see if this is true or not…but still shocked.

Johan Coertze: Yes and when the parks are full they are going to drain Germiston and Boksburg lakes for more space.

Miguel ‘Duarte’ Benedito: Ag no man, use the koppies man, ha ha.
