Pipe bursts in Simmerfield

Metro finds no burst water pipe in Simmerfield, despite resident’s claims.

A burst pipe in Hollins Road, Simmerfield, had allegedly still not been repaired when a furious resident recently called the GCN.

“I first reported the burst pipe to the metro on January 26 and have reported it a number of times since,” she said.

The resident claimed that water from the pipe could be seen leaking through a water meter and into the street.

The GCN sent a query to the metro to discover if the metro was aware of the problem.

If so, why had the problem not been addressed since January and when would the pipe be repaired?

The spokesman for the metro, Themba Gadebe, responded, stating that, “The metro’s plumber went on site to conduct an inspection, but no leak was found.”
