Police hand out pamphlets addressing crime in the Elsburg area

The Elsburg SAPS and EMPD held a roadblock to educate people about various crimes taking place in their area.

The Elsburg SAPS were out-and-about last Sunday conducting a roadblock.

The roadblock was held between 10am and noon, at the intersection of Dekema and Blackreef roads, Wadeville.

The idea behind the roadblock was to provide motorists with information which would aid in reducing the high rate of hijackings in the Elsburg policing area.

“We distributed about 500 pamphlets addressing hijackings, substance abuse, sexual assault and house robberies as these are all crimes taking place in the Elsburg policing area,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

The roadblock was conducted by both the SAPS and the EMPD and they wanted people to see that they hold a zero tolerance approach to crime in the area.
