Manhunt launched for alleged hijackers

The Elsburg SAPS is searching for two men allegedly involved in a hijacking in Rondebult.

Members of the Elsburg SAPS are hunting for two alleged hijackers.

The search was launched after a 41-year-old man was attacked and hijacked by two men, at 10am, last Friday at the Rondebult Spar on the R554.

It is alleged that the victim, driving a white Isuzu bakkie, registration number TML 251 GO, was waiting for the traffic light to turn green when two men approached his vehicle.

“One of the men pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to move over and both the men got into the vehicle,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“The men then did a U-turn and drove to Kalk Street where they forced the victim into a Mercedes Benz, with an unknown registration number.”

The men then drove around with the victim and dropped him off near a hostel in Soweto.

The bakkie was fitted with a tracking device and the complainant can identify his attackers.

No arrests have been made as yet and the vehicle has not been recovered.
