The Primrose police have confirmed that they are investigating a case of murder.
The case was opened after it was alleged that an EFF leader was shot and killed in the Marathon informal settlement on New Year’s Eve.
Paramedics declared the 34-year-old man dead on the scene.
“It is reported that two armed men entered the deceased’s home and shot him three times, before fleeing the scene,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
No arrests have been made and the Primrose police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
“The community can call the station on 011 842-0500. Alternately they can call 011 776-1600 or the crime line on 08600 10111,” said Maome.
