Local pools are safe, for now

Public pools not affected by water shortage.

Feeling too hot and in the mood for a swim to cool-off?

With the current nation-wide water shortage crisis coupled with the recent high temperatures, people might begin to wonder whether they will have access to the local swimming pools.

“At this stage the local pools are not greatly affected by the shortage and are operating normally,” said the southern region manager for local swimming pools, Christo Enslin.

The GCN also spoke to the head of recreation for the southern region, Coen Klopper, who agreed with Enslin.

“Normal terms and conditions at local swimming pools apply but the problems will arise should the water levels drop,” said Klopper.

“At that stage we will have to get permission to top up.”
