Blood, sweat and tears in Lambton

Tebbutts Mixed Martial Arts Academy hosts tough Half-Ironman Challenge.

Karatekas, friends and family gathered at Lambton’s Tebbutts Mixed Martial Arts Academy, on Saturday.

While family and friends were present to cheer and support, karatekas showcased their talents at the club’s Half-Ironman Challenge.

“This is one of the year-end events we host annually for our members and we see how much stamina they still have left after all the competitions throughout the year,” said the club’s hanshi Alex Tebbutt.

The audience witnessed karatekas of different age groups displaying great skills and endurance.

“This is not an easy challenge, as athletes have to work hard and possess high endurance levels,” added Tebbutt.

“I am, however, impressed at the way the athletes are taking up the challenge; they are all doing well.

“It really is motivating when you see athletes apply all they were taught during practice sessions; you see that the year’s efforts went to good use.

“It has been a great year for us here at the club, the members excelled at most, if not all, the competitions and tournaments we took part in throughout the year.

“We are currently planning for our annual prize-giving ceremony, that we host every year, just to conclude matters.

“We will host it in December.

“Although the athletes were drained after the challenge, thank you to the supporters for cheering and supporting, it helped them keep the momentum going throughout the day.

“Thank you to all for making it the great success it was.”
