Thembakazi, GCN put faith in Bouclette Top

GCN draws Bouclette Top.

Bouclette Top will be racing for victory at this weekend’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile.

The horse will be running for the Thembakazi Primary Aftercare Centre located in Vosloorus.

The Germiston City News, as media partner, has been teamed up with Thembakazi and our celebrity on the day is Top Billing’s presenter search winner in 2012, Jonathan Boynton-Lee.

The Peermont Children’s Trust assists ten schools in the Gauteng area by assisting with the provision of school uniforms ever year, daily hot meals for all pupils, food parcels for the school holidays, building of jungle gyms and an annual Christmas party.

The majority of these schools are in underprivileged areas with many children being orphaned and malnourished.

The trust also assists with aftercare programmes and assistance with homework which helps the pupils to improve on their academic results and school attendance.

In fact, the Peermont Children’s Trust after school programmes supports nine centres which cater for 22 primary schools in Gauteng.

The trust works very closely with the Department of Social Development and Department of Education.

Thembakazi, along with Reahile Primary Aftercare Centre in Katlehong, are part of the trust’s projects.

On Wednesday, the unveiling of the field for this year’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile took place with the 16 racehorses for the main Grade 2 race on the day being paired with each of the 16 celebrities, 16 media partners and most importantly, the 16 charities who will all receive proportionate amounts of the R 1-million prize money, depending on the allocated horse’s placement.

Phumelela Racing Executive Clyde Basel, said that this year’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile will be bigger and better than before, because of the greatly increased prize money donated for the 16 worthy charities by Peermont Emperor’s Palace and also the increase towards stakes.

“This event is a highlight on the Gauteng racing calendar and year on year proves to be a fun, exciting, successful race day that raises a lot of money for very worthy causes,” he said

“We have been involved in this event for ten years and this year we have increased the prize money to R1-m, all of which goes to charity.

“May the best horse win,” said Vusi Zwane, Peermont Group Corporate Affairs Executive.

Celebrity and MC at the barrier draw event, Neil Andrews, re-iterated what a wonderful event the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile is.

“Even the horse that runs last wins R 50 000 for charity,” he said.

The Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile takes place at Turffontein this Saturday (October 31).

The GCN will be cheering on Bouclette Top for the win in order for Thembakazi to take the top prize of R150 000.
