Primrose police share their arrest statistics

Forty-one arrested within a week.

The Primrose police had their hands full with the arrest of 41 people in a week.

The suspects were arrested from September 14 to 20, for various crimes in the area.

Crimes included:

  •  Driving under the influence of alcohol: 7
  •  Common assault: 3
  •  Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 5
  •  Possession of suspected stolen property: 1
  •  Possession of drugs: 3
  •  Possession of counterfeit cigarettes: 1
  •  Possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition: 2
  •  Warrant of arrest: 2
  •  Reckless and negligent driving:
  •  Theft: 4
  •  Malicious damage to property: 1
  •  Dealing in liquor without a licence: 1
  •  Housebreaking and theft: 1
  •  Illegal immigrants: 9

The Primrose SAPS station commander, Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

Most of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The illegal immigrants will be sent to Lindela, for deportation.
