Championships postponed

Don’t miss the Cambees Midas South African Drift Championships.

Round Four of the Cambees Midas South African Drift Championships has been postponed to September 19.

The venue still remains The Rock Raceway, in Brakpan.

The round was initially scheduled for September 5 (GCN, August 28).

“Due to the unforeseen weather conditions and additional power outage the championships have had to be postponed,” said Abie Sada, marketing manager and commentator at The Rock Raceway.

“The slideways drift masters will pick up the gauntlet thrown down by the judges as they try impress them with their style, flair and sideways antics without losing the drift.”

Germiston’s local and The Rock Raceway’s biggest drifting fan, Marietjie Barnard, will be among the drifters showing off their talents at the championships.

“Drifters from all over are expected to make their way to the circuit to take on the fourth round of the championships,” explained Sada.

“Bring along your ‘one more time’ banners, together with your friends, family and neighbours, and relish the sideways action as the drifters purposefully smoke and shred tyres to oblivion.

“Fans can make their way to the circuit from 10am, when gates open, and witness a whole day’s practise session before the main event commences at 4pm.”
