Local school puts art in the spotlight

Celebrating young artists.

Young artists and their work have been put under the spotlight at Laerskool Die President.

Between 60 and 70 children from Grades R to Seven created beautiful pieces of art which were exhibited at the school on Saturday.

Each child received a certificate for their efforts and the art was then judged by the school’s art teacher, Leonie Venter.

The top three works from each grade will now be exhibited at a Cheese and Wine Gala Evening Art Exhibition, this Saturday (September 12).

The children will be awarded bronze, silver or gold medals once the art has been judged.

The event takes place at 6pm for 6.30pm, at the school, in Astronomy Road, Fishers’ Hill.

The dress code for the evening is semi-formal.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate young artists from the school by hosting well–known South African artists to critique their works.

Artists in attendance will be Steve Strauss, Mariska Meyer, Joe Joubert and Daniel MacDonald, who will also display some of their own pieces.

To purchase tickets, or for more information, as only limited tickets will be available on the evening, call the school on 011 828-5341/2, or contact Benjamin Jones on 079 507 1031.
