Lambton resident Nikita Coetzer (10) is making a splash on the local swimming scene.
Coetzer, who is a Grade Five pupil at Colin Mann Primary School, swims for the Boksburg Aquatic Saints and was recently selected as part of the Eastern Gauteng team.
The team took part in the Small Districts Inter Provincial Gala, at the Boksburg North Swimming Pool, last Saturday, when Coetzer placed third in the 50m freestyle, and was part of the u-10 relay team who received a gold medal at the gala.
However, the highlight of the event for Coetzer was her gold medal for the 50m breaststroke event.
Her time of 41.84 seconds broke the previous record of 42.28 seconds, held since 2011.
