Family returning home from airport held up at gun-point

Hazel Park family robbed in driveway.

The Germiston SAPS are investigating a case of armed robbery after a family was held up at gun-point in their driveway, on Monday evening.

The incident took place at about 7.39pm after a man and his sisters returned home from OR Tambo International Airport.

They stopped in their Pieter Raath Avenue, Hazel Park driveway and were waiting for the gate to open when they were approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.

“One of the men pointed the firearm at them and they were ordered to get out of the car,” said WO André de Jager, spokesman for the Germiston SAPS.

“The men then took two handbags, money and cellphones to the value of about R14 000.”

The men then fled.

No arrests have been made as yet.
