Germiston Karate Centre members scoop medals

Members from Germiston Karate Centre showcased their talents at the 31st Japan Shotokan Karate Association (JSKA) National Championships held in Pretoria, recently.

“We performed really well and managed to scoop ten medals in kumite and kata sections respectively, this is a great achievement,” said the club’s sensei, Sampie van Zyl.

“I received two bronze medals, Ricko van Zyl received a silver and bronze, Chanae van Zyl got a gold and silver, Ryan Bateman took a silver and bronze, while Megan van Staden received a gold and silver medal.

“Well done to everybody who took part in the competition, we all did our best.

“We are inviting more people to join the club, we practise every Monday and Wednesday from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.”
