A man died following an assault incident on Simon Street in Rustivia, Germiston in the early hours of this morning, June 30.
Netcare 911 paramedics received the call for assistance at around 2.30am and upon arrival on scene found the lifeless body a 59-year-old man lying on the ground.
“Paramedics immediately started with resuscitation and continued for almost two hours but sadly the man succumbed due to the extensive injuries sustained during the assault incident.
“The man was declared dead on the scene,” said Santi Steinmann, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.
The exact details surrounding the cause of the assault incident and preceding events are still unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
