One win for Simmer

Fast-paced rugby action at the Germiston Stadium.

Germiston Stadium hosted four Germiston Simmer Rugby Club matches against the Johannesburg Police, on Saturday.

Simmer’s u-20, third, second and first teams took to the field, hoping to “arrest” their opponents.

However, even with a great effort from Simmer, the Johannesburg club walked away with three wins.

The u-20 team’s match was the most energetic of the four, with both teams coming out in full force.

Simmer’s u-20s made the club proud when they won with 26-12, especially considering that it was Simmer’s only win for the day.

The more intense matches were those of the third and second sides, and rugby fans were kept on their feet as they witnessed nail-biting tackles.

Lots of injuries were sustained in the second side’s fixture.

Simmer were unable to stop or match Johannesburg’s lead, which saw the third side losing 5-19 and the second side going down 12-36.

The first team’s match was also a bit intense, but what was evident was the level of skill both the teams displayed.

Fans witnessed great rugby action in this match, with fewer fouls.

Though the Johannesburg Police teams had a robust approach in all their matches, Simmer’s first team managed to tame the robustness, but were unable to claim a win.

The first team match ended in a final score of 5-48, in favour of Johannesburg.

“It was not a very good weekend for Germiston Simmer.

“Johannesburg Police are fitting log leaders; the next two games will be away matches, but we hope to bounce back with more wins,” said Simmer’s Ryan Dennis.
