Boxing action thrills fans

Explosive bouts at Emperors Palace.

The Chesanyama D-Day at the Palace boxing tournament took place in spectacular fashion at Emperors Palace, on Saturday.

The bout list consisted of local and international boxers such as South African’s Johnny Muller, Tommy Oosthuizen, Xolisani Ndongeni, Poland’s Mateuz Masternak, and New Zealand’s Robert Berridge.

Fight fans got their money’s worth as they watched action-packed bouts throughout the evening.

The results are:

  • Heavyweight Title:

The fight between Steve Shumba and Ruann Visser was due to be a four round event but was cancelled.

  • International Welterweight Title:

Luyanda Jako (SA) took on Roman Zhailauov (Khazakstan).

The bout was set for eight rounds but was won by Roman Zhailauov (Khazakstan) two minutes and 34 seconds into the first round by a TKO.

  • IBO Light Heavyweight World Title:

Fight fans were not disappointed as this bout went the full 12 rounds.

Robert Berridge (New Zealand) went head-to-head with Tommy Oosthuizen (SA).

The bout was won in the 12th round by Oosthuizen with a score 116, 117, 117.

Berridge scored 112, 111, 111.

  • WBA Pan African Lightweight Title:

Mzonke Fana took on XolisaniI Ndongeni and this fight went the full 12 rounds.

The bout was won by Ndongeni in the 12th round with a score of 115, 115,114.

Fana scored 113,113,114.

  • International Cruiserweight Title:

This 10 round fight saw Mateusz Masternak (Poland) pit his skills against Johnny Muller (SA).

The bout was won in the final round by Johnny Muller with a score of 95, 95, 93.

Masternak (Poland) scored 93, 93, 95.
