Beware of buying stolen goods

Do you know where your purchased goods came from?

The Primrose police have warned the community of Primrose not to buy stolen goods.

“Always check that the people from who you are buying have proof of where they bought their goods,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

This comes after three men, aged between 29 and 37 years, were arrested for possession of stolen goods.

The arrest was made when officers were on patrol in the Makause informal settlement.

“Officers approached two men who were reportedly selling stolen goods.

“The suspects were interrogated and they confessed to having broken into a shack and stolen a car battery, which they sold,” explained Maome.

The men voluntarily took police to the man who had bought the car battery and he was also arrested.

“It is with this arrest in mind that we warn our community that items they buy without a receipt could lead to trouble with the law,” said Maome.

All three suspects will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
