EMPD assists in arrest of tyre thief

Man found with suspected stolen property.

Members of the Primrose SAPS, in conjunction with the EMPD, recently arrested a 29-year-old man.

The man was charged with possession of suspected stolen property after being arrested in Ronbex Street, Activia Park.

The arrest was made when EMPD officers, who were on patrol in Primrose, received an anonymous tip-off that someone had suddenly received new tyres in their street, and when asked could not explain where they had ceome from.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers found the accused and the tyres.

“They asked the accused to produce an invoice or receipt for the tyres, which he was unable to produce,” said the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS, Sgt Styles Maome.

The suspect was arrested and brought to the Primrose Police Station where he was formally charged.
