Germiston City FC punishes Maritimo

Great opening game.

The Germiston City Football Club’s junior season opened with a game in the u-15 Super League side away to Maritimo, of Rosettenville, at Pioneer Park.

Germiston started the game looking a bit shaky and were soon down 0-1 to Maritimo.

Once the team settled into their rhythm they played some very attractive football and soon equalised with a goal by Sabata Dikgale.

Germiston continued to pile the pressure on the Maritimo defence and Germiston’s persistent Joshua van der Berg forced the opponent’s goalkeeper to panic, clearing the ball into his path, allowing him to score easily.

Maritimo put up a brave fight, but it was only a matter of time before the floodgates opened, with Germiston emerging 7-2 victors.

Coach Wiseman Nthuli was very happy with his player’s performance, but added: “The score line was flattering, as the Maritimo side showed great potential.”
