Skills tested at tennis tournament

Youngsters take on ETSOE's challenging tennis tournament.

The Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence (ETSOE) hosted a tournament on March 14, at the Germiston Stadium.

The round-robin competition was primarily for local tennis players, who were split into two different groups, A and B.

“The round-robin format enabled all the players to play against one another,” said one of the club’s coaches, Sizo Sonqishe.

There were nine players who showcased their talents at the tournament and Group A collected points from every match.

Group A results:

  • Jaydan Rooskrantz – 12 points.
  • Tadiwa Chipfakacha – 11 points.
  • Sethembile Miyeni – 7 points.
  • Jennah Davids – 5 points.
  • Martenique Davids – 5 points.

Group B results: Damaris Mugambate beat Amelia Bok 2-1 and Joy Nyaruwabvu beat Bright Banda 2-1.

The coaches who facilitated the day’s events are Loyiso Matsha and Sonqishe.
