Baby could have burnt his feet on hot floor

Katlehong police receive report from doctor's who treated the 18-month-old boy when his feet were burnt.

The GCN recently reported that a case of child negligence had been opened against a day care centre, in Katlehong, following allegations that an 18-month-old toddler’s feet were burnt there.

A doctor’s report has been released by the local clinic to which the child was taken to shortly after the incident.

The report notes that the soles of the child’s feet were burnt, leading doctors to believe that the boy could have burnt his feet on the hot stoep, when he could not jump off it onto the grass.

Capt Mega Ndobe, communications official for the Katlehong police, explained: “The docket, including the report, has been taken to the court for a senior prosecutor to decide whether or not an arrest should be made.”

The GCN will post updates as they become available.
