Woman attacked by family

Woman attacked when she tries to take back her child's scooter.

The Primrose police arrested three suspects accused of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, recently.

The incident took place in the Makause informal settlement, where it is alleged that the victim was at home when her four-year-old came in, crying.

The child told his mother that another boy had taken his toy scooter.

The woman went out to check, and found a seven-year-old boy riding her son’s scooter.

He refused to give it back, so the woman took it from him and he ran to his home, crying.

“The victim went back home and, after some time, the boy’s father, mother and aunt came to her and attacked her,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The victim claims the mother tried to hit her with a bottle, but missed her, while the father slapped her and the aunt hit her with a bottle.”

Officers were called to the scene and the three suspects were arrested.

All three appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their case was postponed for trial.
