EMPD arrest 19 speedsters in Ekurhuleni

EMPD officers have recently caught a number of speedsters in the region.

The EMPD has been out and about, targeting speedsters in Ekurhuleni.

On February 15, between 5am and 11am, eight drivers, including a woman, were apprehended for doing speeds of between 117 and 141km/h, on Paul Kruger Road, between Modderbee and the N12, in Benoni.

This road is zoned 80km/h.

On the N17 west highway in Germiston, between the Guthrie and Heidelberg bridges, three motorists were arrested for doing speeds of between 162 and 196km/h, in a 120km/h zone.

Meanwhile, on February 14, eight drivers were arrested on Heidelberg Road, between Kaapmuiden and Rangeview streets, in Brakpan, for speeding.

The motorists were travelling at speeds ranging between 116 and 125km/h in an 80km/h zone.

All arrested offenders were charged with reckless and negligent driving at the Benoni, Brakpan and Elsburg police stations.

They are expected to appear in their respective Magistrates Courts soon.
