Man shot and robbed on the N3 highway

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

A man was shot and wounded on the N3 highway, near the Geldenhuys interchange, at about 7pm, on Tuesday evening.

Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS, said the man’s truck broke down and he was at the side of the highway.

“He was approached by two men,” said Raphulu.

“One of the suspects was armed with a firearm.

“The suspect, with the firearm, fired a shot at the complainant and hit him in the right leg.”

The men then made off with the victim’s wallet, which contained R100 cash, bank cards and his cellphone.

A case of attempted murder has been opened by the Germiston police.

No arrests have been made yet.
