Join Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF in the fight against crime

Helping to reduce crime in the area.

The Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF is alive and well and reducing crime in the area.

A Community Policing Forum (CPF) can be described as a non-profit organisation interacting between the community and the SAPS, the main aim being to enhance safety and security by proactively reducing crime.

“With only 2.5 per cent of the Lambton Klip community actively participating, crime statistics have been reduced since the inception of the CPF, but have not been eliminated,” said Pine Pienaar, the liaison member of the Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF.

“Are you going to be part of the solution or do you think it’s not happening here?

“Join us and make a difference for the safety of your family and community.”

The Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF covers Lambton, Klippoortjie, Parkhill Gardens, Webber, Hazeldene and Hazelpark.

The organisation is committed to working hand-in-hand with the residents/community and proactively challenging crime-related issues within the area.

A group of well-trained patrollers roam the streets on a voluntary basis, day and night, trying to make the area a safer place.

They are equipped with radios to communicate among themselves and with various households, who will assist and provide back-up in situations, where and when necessary.

The patrollers also wear a clear visibility uniform, easily recognised by the community.

“These patrollers have actively been involved in apprehending criminals after crimes have been committed in the past and will carry on doing so for the safety of residents in the area,” said Pienaar.

“It must be emphasised again that they do this on a voluntary basis.”

However, the community needs to do more to reduce crime in the area.

You can help by:

  • Being proactive and assisting in the patrols where possible.
  • Linking up to the group’s radio network.
  • Attending the monthly meetings, every second Thursday of the month, at Afrikaanse HoĂ«rskool Germiston, in Webber Road, Lambton, and staying informed.
  • Reporting all crimes to the SAPS.

“We are appealing to business owners and community members in the area to become involved in joining hands with us to reduce the crime.

“Donations of any kind would also be highly appreciated, to be used to fight this crime monster that has nested itself within and among us,” Pienaar said.

Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF will be holding its AGM on March 12, at 7pm, at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston.

Renee Germishuizen, the current chairman, urges all residents to attend the meeting and become part of seeking a solution for the crime problem in the area.
