Residents want to know when the metro will repair sinkhole

Metro does not feel sink hole got any bigger during the festive season.

In December, the GCN reported on the damage to a Rondebult resident’s drive way.

The damage on the road outside his Roodekop Road home, was caused by a large storm in the area.

What he thought to be a simple crack quickly became a sinkhole.

The metro closed off the road shortly after the incident and promised to repair the damage.

However, nothing has been done and the sinkhole has grown in size.

The GCN approached the metro to find out when repairs would begin.

Seabi Masilo, media assistant for the metro’s department of communications and brand management, released the following statement:

“The city’s contractor was on site from Monday, January 5, to start with the rehabilitating process of the sinkhole.

“The storm water department is also on board in assisting with the better management of water.

“The metro does not believe the sinkhole has gotten any bigger.

“The municipality will keep you abreast of the progress made.”

The GCN will continue to follow up on this matter.
